Project Manager (SAP Upgrade)

Randstad are currently working with a Qld Government department to find a Project Manager for an upgrade from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA. This is a contract until 31/07/2026 (with potential of extension) based in Brisbane CBD.

Pay Rate: $905.20/day + super ($1,013.82 /day inclusive of super)

Position overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to manage and oversee an upgrade from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA. Sponsored by the CFO, you will manage the full project lifecycle in collaboration with an external partner, ensuring that business continuity, compliance, and performance goals are met. This is a strategic role that requires exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and prior SAP migration expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of the SAP ECC6 to S/4HANA upgrade focused on finance processes (e.g., GL, AP, AR, Asset Accounting, Treasury, Controlling).
• Act as the bridge between finance leadership, internal teams, and the external implementation partner.
• Collaborate closely with the CFO, Finance SMEs, and IT to define, document, and deliver business requirements aligned to financial reporting, compliance, and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, resource allocations, and risk registers.
• Ensure system design supports statutory compliance requirements
• Oversee data migration and validation, ensuring financial data integrity and historical continuity.
• Drive testing efforts including scenario development, UAT coordination, and issue resolution.
• Support change management, communication and training activities specific to finance users and leadership.
• Report project performance and health (incl. status, financial impact, progress against milestones, risks and issues) to the relevant governance boards including the agencies CFOs and executive leadership teams.
• Ensure strong governance and project controls, , and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum 7 years of experience managing ERP projects, with a strong track record of SAP upgrade or implementation initiatives in the finance domain.
• In-depth understanding of finance functions and accounting principles within SAP ECC and S/4HANA.
• Strong vendor management skills, ideally with exposure to Tier 1 SAP implementation partners.
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial data migrations and system reconciliations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly in translating technical concepts into business language.
